Ruffles, Ruffles and More Ruffles Shirt Refashion

August 27, 2009 12:36 pm

I had this nice shirt that I really liked that had a couple of stains on it. I really didn’t want to throw it out. So I decided to do a ruffle front.

Here’s how it turned out! I’m IN LOVE with it. I did 3 different tones of white. I love tone on tones because it’s more interesting than just one flat color.
Here are the ruffle up close in all their glory.

Here’s an outfit I think it would look great with. The ruffles will soften and girl-ify the look of the Western boots.
I’m so happy now because I have so many shirt with stains on the front and I like tearing them up and using them for other things, but now I have another way to repurpose them. I think a black/grey would look awesome, too!

Very cute! I have a few of those stained shirts that need to be made over. I love the way they look on this shirt.

So cute. I like how to ruffles, as you say, "girlify" it. Menswear and country chic are trendy, but I'm always afraid that instead of Trend! I scream Rancher! when I try and pull it off.

When you refashion your knits, do you leave the armholes unfinished?

You are truly an amazing and talented woman! I love your blog and all your great ideas. You've inspired me to try some refashioning of my own. Last night I took an un-flattering black/white summery dress and turned it into a cute top that I know I'll wear a lot. I cut it a little too short but then I found some coordinating fabric to make it longer on the bottom. It was perfect and I owe the inspiration to you…thanks!

So cute! Perfect timing too, I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to embellish a onesie to go with a baby skirt I just made. This will be super cute. Did you just use un hemmed fabric so that it will fray? Or did you put something on the edges? Thanks tons for the inspiration!

I love your ruffles and pleats…don't stop! Question though…what do the 'rough' edges look like after washing? Do they stop fraying at some point?
