Fall for Isabel

November 2, 2009 9:36 pm

Isabel needed some new fall clothes outside of her school uniform. She refuses to wear pants so I decided to make her some warm skirts. The first one I made was a light, soft mauve courduroy.
I did it bubble style and lined the inside with a pink flannel.

I like the subtle volume of it.
I found this amazing multi-colored tweed at Harts.

I made a box pleated skirt from it.

I absolutely love the look of this fabric and the pleats.

And so does Bel :)
Then I made this eggplant colored tunic top with this beautiful butterfly fabric as the trim..
It has a pleated front at the center of the neck.

And a pleat at the back with a button back closure.

Here’s the full back view.

Here she is, staring off at the TV.(my bribe to let me take her picture)

I really like this style top. I have coordinating ones for all three of the girls on my to do list!

Then, lastly, some warm flannel pj’s. I got this beautiful print at Harts.

The some sweet blue-bird jammies.
Now, if only it would stop being 80 here we could get some use out of this stuff!!

Love that giraffe print! Do you have any tutorials for making those long-sleeved tops she wearing? I've looked all over the web for some on making shirts w/long sleeves with no success.

Thank you everyone! They are all my own designs. I could maybe to a tute on the bubble, but the top wouldn't be something I could explain through a tutorial. Maybe a pattern someday soon!

Oh my gosh, our daughters must've been twins in a past life because my 4 yr old refuses to wear pants as well. Since we live in the OC it's not too much of a problem but it does get chilly from time to time. She asked for long skirts so I simply lined a yard of fabric with some light flannel, folded it in half and added some elastic at the top. Super simple! :) I'm going to try your skirts next :)

I would totally love if you could post some tips or a tutorial on a box pleat skirt. I'm a little lost with those, but very interested.
