LBB and Dharma Trading Design Challenge

February 11, 2010 11:11 am

I am a HUGE fan of Ashley’s Sienna Dress pattern I love reusing old clothes and I like how each piece comes out different. So I knew I had to enter this contest. I’ve done so mnay of her T-shirt dresses that I wanted to do one that was a little over the top, kids couture, if you will.

So I made the Cotton Candy Couture Dress.

I used her pattern and added these different kind of floral details with all different techniques.

A matching hair piece, of course!

I used a bunch of different t-shirts to make a striped skirt at the bottom. Then I added this pick-up where the tulle under layer shows.

Here are the plain close ups.

Skirt detail.

Som of the layered flower detail. What I did is appliqued cotton pieces on top of the t-shirt. Then I made dimensional pieces to go on top. There are layered flowers with beads and buttons, chiffon petal flowers, tulle pom poms, and silk ribbon swags

Then on the sleeves I gathered it up the middle and added lace bows from on of the t-shirts I used.

Thanks, Ashely for hosting this challenge!

I love this as well! I am curious, do you ever make anything you can machine wash or do you dry clean everything or handwash it? Just curious! I have just barely made my first two re-fashion/ruffle edged tshirts and was wondering how I should care for them!
