The Aria Dress

November 29, 2010 10:58 am

Last week I showed you this post of the beginning stages of a dress I had made. Here is the completed product, The Aria Dress.

I really wanted to capture the movement of this dress in the photo shoot.

I gotta say, my sister rocked that shoot! I was so impressed with her!

Here are some plain old closeups of the dress. I made this out of white, soft jersey than hand painted it with tea. I wanted it to have a barely there color.

It also has pockets.

The top has a slimming middle detail with rouching at the bodice.

The back has this detail.

I. Love. This. Dress.

How wonderful to see your vision turned to reality.

And great photoshoot, too. (Tell me there was a trampoline involved.)

This is just beautiful! Love the lighting for the photos… your sister was either on a trampoline or has strong legs..? ;)
I like how the back shows the triangle and isn’t sewn under the back.

I love the idea of a really flowy easy white dress. I noticed the front puckered a bit. I wonder if you made the gathered top underneath an independent tubetop rather than sewing each side the the center piece while, still have the bottom of the center piece sewn into the waist band, the two pieces would be independent (tube top and center piece) but you could put the dress on your model or form and while the garment is stretched could pin the center piece to the gathered tubetop, then you could either top stitch onto the center piece or if you didn’t want stitching showing hand stitch. Either way it is a very creative and lovely design.
