Q: How did you learn how to sew?
A: I sewed a little with my Grandma when I was growing up. It wasn’t until I had my first daughter that I got interested in sewing again. I started with really simple projects (anything square) then am continually working my way up. I was familiar with a machine before, but am self taught.
Q: What kind of machine do you use?
I sew on my best friend’s grandmother’s old machine. It is a Husqvarna 1 and I adore it. It is such a wonderful quality machine and it’s really special to be using it. For serging, I have a BabyLock Evolution.
Q: Where do you find time to sew with three daughters?
A: I get asked this A LOT! What I used to say is this “I sew everyday when the girls nap or rest. I have about 2 hours. If I have any other work that has to be done that day. I’ll sew after they sleep for a short time. I’m also a really fast sewer.” Now I can say I sew or do something business related most of the day. I stop in between for snack time, taking the girls potty, preschool/homeschool, reading books, playing, cleaning up messes, carpooling, etc… It’s a busy life!!
Q: What inspires your designs?
I really like clean looks and things that withstand the ever changing trends. I love a classic look with a twist. That’s why I love asymmetry and texturized pieces. It ads so much interest. I love simple colors and not too many prints. My favorite color to work with is white.
Q: Can I use your pictures on my website or blog?
A: You may use pictures, but please link them back to my website.
Q: Can I use your tutorials to make things and sell them?
A: I work very hard to make easy, fun tutorials for everyone to get inspiration from and, hopefully, create your own version. Please do not use the tutorials for your own resale without permission first. If you like a tutorial and want to recreate it for sales, I MUST be contacted first.
Any original designs are my own creations and cannot be duplicated for resale purposes.
I GREATLY appreciate your understanding.
Q. Why don’t you do tutorials for your original designs?
A. I don’t do any tutorials for my original designs because I sell a lot of those designs on Etsy,at my online shop and with my retailer. If everyone knew how to make them they wouldn’t really be a great product to sell. But I’m flattered that so many of my original designs get requests for tutorials! Thank you for understanding!
