Coco Bijou is here!-CLOSED

February 26, 2010 1:18 pm

If you know me by now, you know I have a thing for Forever 21 Jewelry. I love how you can get big, in-trend pieces for $5.   But when it comes to  simple pieces you can always tell when it’s cheap. There are certain pieces I would never skimp on. Those pieces are my classic, basic staples. I love the simplicity of gold bands , a long silver necklace with a small pendant, simple hoop earrings, and stacked rings. There are things that I wear every single day, that I get the most compliments on. Now enter:

For Christmas this year, I got these gold bangles from Coco Bijou- one for each year that I’ve been married. (My inspiration from Grieving Gracefully). I wear them every day and layer them with other things. They are my favorite pieces of jewelry and I love that, with God’s help, each year of marriage I get to add to this symbol.

You know how sometimes things look great online and they’re not so great in person? I can GUARANTEE that is NOT the case  with CocoBijou.  The quality and craftsmanship is amazing. For Christmas my siblings and I got my mom this gorgeous necklace.

It’s an imperfect gold oval with all of our names on it. My mom went crazy over it!

I had the hardest time picking out my favorite pieces from her store, but here are a few.

Apple Green Chalcedony Briolette Earings. They are so delicate yet the color has high impact.

Hammered Circle Necklace.

Mixed Metal Bangles

Stardust Gathering Ring. I love how unique this one is!

Hammered Satin GOld Filled Hoop Earrings with Quartz Crystal Briolette

Oh, and honestly, she’s one of the NICEST women I’ve ever met on Etsy. She’s SO nice that she’s doing a giveaway. The winner will get to choose from:

Set of 4 STacked Gold RIngs (Jealous)

Hammered Gold Bangle Bracelet with CHarm (jealous again)

Indulgence Ring (even more jealous)

OR the Gold Circle Necklace (seething with envy)

The winner will be announced Thursday, March 4th.

To enter:

1. Leave a comment with your choice of gift.

2. Double entry for creating a link on your blog, facebook, twitter, etc… (let me know in your comment if you do that)

Good luck!

Chanel Ruffle Cuff-I love you.

December 13, 2009 9:31 am

I love these ruffled detailed from Chanel’s recent runway. But they’re a little unwearable for my mommy daily life.
So I’ve been churning in my head- how can I make these functional??
(Disney from Ruffles and Stuff made a cute version seen here)?

This picture helped me to create something super easy and super wearable.

Get a dollar bangle at Target. Just like yesterday’s post!! Cover it in black fabric. I used a dupioni silk.

Get long layers of white fabric. I used chiffon. Fray check the edges so it doesn’t fray too much. You could fold it over, but I like how Chanel’s are slightly frayed.

Ruffle your long pieces.

Glue them to the inside of the bangle so they are sticking out.

After I finished gluing the ruffles to each side of the bangle, I got a piece of lack fabric and glued it on the inside of the bangle to make it look nice and clean.

Voila! Wearable Chanel inspired bangles.

So chic!!

Wouldn’t these look great with one on each wrist?

Have a lovely beginning to your week!

$1 High Fashion Bangle Bracelet

December 12, 2009 4:57 pm

I love big bracelets. I had seen some amazing fabrics at Harts Fabrics and thought this would be a perfect opportunity to use some of them to make a fabulous, high fashion, over-sized bangle.

First, grab 5 strips of chiffon. Cut them 1.5in by 3 inch. I used these three cream then two in a taupe color.Squeeze them in the middle….
.. then stitch them. Here’s what you’ll have.

I got this bangle in the dollar bin at Target.

Now’s your chance to use some beautiful statement fabrics. I used this gold and white Chanel one.
Here are a couple more that I absolutely love.
this Vera Wang Silkor this other Chanel.
Cut the fabric the length of your bangle and wide enough to cover it all the way around. Hot glue it on one side. Make sure to pull tightly so it doesn’t pucker at all.
Then do the other side. I think its LOVELY just like this. Think how many you could make with beautiful fabrics!

For an extra step, I covered the inside with this gold hem tape to cover the fabric that was folded over.

Now get your chiffon pieces and layer them on and stick with hot glue.

Here’s how the top will look when you’ve finished. You can always trim the flower if you need to make it smaller.
I added this blue bead to the center. But vintage pieces would look amazing or pearls!

I love how big and bold it is.

It also looks so beautiful without the flower! I would love this with some plain gold bangles with it.

Now go make some one of a kind, couture statement bracelets!!(That cost a buck!) How great are these for gifts!! I’m going to be making LOTS of these for Christmas!

Jewelry Love

October 22, 2009 12:24 pm

So a couple weeks ago I got really inspired by Anthropologies jewelry and decided to try to make some stuff. I made this first necklace with fabric, pearls, rhinestones and a vintage crown piece I had gotten.
I really liked the way it came out.

THEN- I went to Forever 21, which I haven’t been to in forever and I got all of these fabulous pieces!

Here are two mixed pieces.

This pink beaded one which I cut off the top layer because it was a little too much for me.

These two vintagey pearl pieces.

This silver and pearl chain necklace.

These two different ones…

And this extravagant turquoise and gold one.

And let me tell you- they were all under $7!!!!!!!!!!! I got a lot but spent so little and I’ve been wearing them every day. And now I say forget making jewelry and thank you Forever 21!!
