Paper Bag Waist Skirt and Pleated Top

February 22, 2010 8:18 pm

Here are another couple pieces that I’ve designed. I know you saw this outfit in our Christmas shoot this year,

,but I still wanted to shoot my sister in it so you could see it better.

Here is my paper bag waist skirt and Peach Pleated Top.

The top is a peachy pink vegetable dyed  cotton by Vera Wang. It’s, hand down, one of my favorite fabrics that I’ve worked with.  I did this pleats down the front and the neckline with some fold over detailing, then some buttons.

The top V’s in the back and has a small, slimming closure.

The skirt is a super soft yarn died linen with a paper bag waist and black cotton tie and with the same black cotton detailing at the bottom.

It also has pockets.

This skirt is the best! I wear it all the time and its fashionable and comfortable.

Love her in this shot.

Here’s where you can help me out again!!

Your feedback means a lot to me and I’d love to hear any thoughts about either pieces or the shoot, in general.  Also, would either of these pieces be somehting you’d buy or want to see in the etsy store?

Please take a moment and let me know your thoughts! It really helps me out!

I’ve begun adding my new T-shirt to my Etsy Store. Here’s a preview…

This one is a white on white shirt. For those of you that know me by know, you know it’s one of my favorite looks.

This one is a hand dyed, gunmetal grey with lots of great details.

This pink shirt has asymmetrical sailor striped pleats.

Go check out more pictures of them and stay tuned for lots more to come.

And just to keep you on your toes, here’s a teaser for a great tutorial I’m finishing up for this AMAZING clutch.

Thanksgiving Dresses

November 27, 2009 10:20 pm

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. It’s been such a lovely couple of days.

Here are the dresses I made for the girls for the day.

I chose bright, popping fall colors or eggplant, curry, pumpkin and sage.

I wanted simple, clean lines.

They all had these crocheted button back closures.

Although hard to see, they had a small pleat on the front neckline. We did lots of fun fall things like throwing leaves…

…picking persimmons…
…and eating them, too…

…and loving the family that God has blessed us with.

I’m SOOOOO excited because although I love refashioning, I love designing and making things from scratch the most. So I went a little nuts over the past 3 days and made 5 original pieces for myself and I can’t wait to show them all to you!!!

I hope you all had much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!

Love Letter Pillow

November 24, 2009 11:01 am

I got this idea from a pillow I saw at Pottery Barn. It’s a love letter pillow. We’re big note and letter writers in this family so I loved the idea of having a specific place you could leave each other little notes. I made one for our bed in similar tones of our bedding.
You really can’t see this fabric, but it’s a gold dusted linen that’s gorgeous! If you don’t have an embroidery feature, you could cut out the letters in a different fabric or felt!

You can leave words of love or encouragement for a sweet surprise.

I think these would make a wonderful gift!

Isabel left us a note in it yesterday!

It’s a fun way to foster love and communication in the home.

To the Fair Tops

September 21, 2009 2:36 pm

This weekend was our county fair. On a whim, I made these shirts for the girls the day before. Of course, I forgot my camera so these are pictures of the girls the morning after the fair. ALL faired out!(All of these pictures were edited, then they got reverted back and I was too lazy to re-edit them, so please excuse the poor quality)
Here’s sweet, Ava. Hers had an aqua top.

With matching hem tape.

Isabel’s was coral. For the back, I did an open back with a leather tie. It’s what I had around and it was so “country” looking. I really liked it.

Ava’s Back…

I did a slight gather at the shoulders…

…with a 3/4 length sleeve. I also (although hard to tell) did a fold over detail at the bottom of the sleeves.

Here’s Zach, doing a puzzle with the girls, very uninterested in being on my blog.

My little, Gigi, in brown.
Ava’s “funny” face…(and by the way, look at the skirt she wore with this! She’s so hodge-podge)

…and we end the shoot like this. Thank goodness fairs only come once a year.
