Lace Tunic Dress
April 11, 2010 2:38 pmHere’s one of my new designs in my new FAVORITE fabric from Harts. It’s a tunic style made from this lacey/crochet fabric.
I made it just in time for Easter.
I’m really hoping to add this design to my trunk show and store, but the fabric is all out. I’m praying more comes in!!

Dressmaking with Lex- Part 1
April 9, 2010 8:34 amI’ve gotten a lot of questions and requests to show how I make a dress. So I finally put together my process of dressmaking. I honestly have been nervous to do this. Why? I’m not trained in what I do. I’m a self taught designer/sewer. So the way I do things is the way I like to do them and the way that has worked well for me. So I want to add a disclaimer saying just that. Maybe the way I do things is different, or maybe it’s not, I really don’t know! But none the less, I’ll gladly show you my dressmaking journey.

Daily Wear and New to the Shop

Here is a new dress I made for myself over the weekend. I wore it with an oversized sweater, knee high boots and my pleated purse.
Those of you that have been with me this whole time know how much I looooove white. This dress is a Burberry cream on cream striped jersey. It has cascading ruffles down the front.
It has smocked sleeves, smocked neckline and a slimming smocked waistband. Its comforatble, airy and effortless. A great dress to wear casually or dress up.
It’s for sale in my etsy shop, along with two paperbag wiast skirts from my new line at Stripe. This one is a chambray denim.
This one is a combed pink cotton.
Both are a one size fits most! One more day left to enter the giveaway!! And NO! I’m not going to stop doing tutorials. I’ve got one coming on Thursday.

QUESTION: A lot of you requested me to do a dress tutorial for the Anthropologie “You name it, Ill show you how to make it”. Now, I can show you how I make a dress for me, but it’s going to be SOOO different for each body. You may need to dart more, extend more in the back, take in more in the waist etc… I’m worried that whole part will be not helpful at all. Would you rather have a shirt tutorial or an easy dress one? Let me know so I can choose which one to do!

March 7, 2010 4:58 pmHappy Sunday to you all! The sun has broken through and I’m really enjoying the day! I thought if I smiled I’d feel less awkward in my pictures. Here’s today’s outfit.
What I’m wearing:
Purple dress that I made. I told you I wear it a lot.
Grey J. Crew cardigan. Hand me down from my sister.
Black American Apparel leggings
Black Frye Paige boots (I didn’t pay that much for them. I got them used on ebay. It’s one of my favorite fashion tricks. I’ll buy really high quality things that are slightly used on ebay for so much cheaper!!)
My Coco Bijou Bangles and a Sergio Gutierrez bracelet from my husband for my first Mother’s Day
