The Long Skirt is Back

Remember this long skirt I had made last summer? I had sold out so quickly and never found a fabric that I thought was comparable.

But I finally found this gorgeous ikat print, one of my favorite prints for this year. And the long skirt is born again.

Hish waisted, super slimming and extremely comfortable.

Tea Staining (Dyeing)

I really love the color (or non-color??) white. But sometimes you want something not so bright. So I tried my hand at tea staining. I learned that tea dying is when you fully immerse the fabric in the tea. I wanted a differnt feel to mine, which is called tea staining. Here’s what I did.

Make some tea. I used black tea and for this small amount of fabric, I jsut used one bag. You can make it darker by adding more. I put mine in a jar because you can reuse it.

I wanted mine to have a brushed sort of look so I applied it with a pastry brush.

Here’s how a piece looked. after my first application. It’s just slightly darker.

I let the ta sit for longer to make it darker then I brushed over it with some slightly darker lines.

Now it won’t be permanent with multiple washings so to fix it, soak the fabric in two parts vinegar, one partwater and 2 tbsp of salt. Soak for 15 minutes. Then wash.

Here’s what I ended up using it for.

This is my Lisa Sweater made from a plum colored linen knit.

I loved the combed effect on the white jersey.

it has these slimming details on the front and back.

Hi. I’ve missed you all. And I’m sorry for the slow posting. My daughter just started back to school so we’re all adjusting to our new routine. I’ll get back to normal soon.

I have SO MANY new things coming to the store. Long sleeve organic tops, amazing sweaters and some scarves, too! To make way I need to get rid of some of the summer’s inventory. So my pleated purses are on sale for 50% OFF!!

I have one left in cream canvas and one in navy linen.

More Boot Love- SOLD

Since my last “sharing the boot love” was so successful, I thought I’d give it another go. I found these and fell in love with them. They had some weird strappys all over them so I took them off and now they are just perfect, slouchy, cognac leather boots.

I love the wooden heel and the rivet detail around the sole.

They look gorgeous with jeans.
