Mommy and Me Messenger Bag (and Mini, too!) Pattern and Bag Giveaway-CLOSED

February 23, 2010 2:41 pm

My super “easy- if-you-can-sew-a-straight-line-you-can-sew-this pattern” is here!

I made this one out of wool scraps, added a pink lining with matching trim and a vintage button and I’m (our my sister here) wearing it everywhere!

Here is the mommy messenger bag in another fabric.

I did three different sizes. From left to right, Me size, Mommy size and Mini size!

They can be done in ANY types of fabric and I give lots of ideas plus ideas for repurposing fabrics and additional options for customizing it.

I did Isabel’s from a pair of old jeans! I added a little star applique to the front and a bright  pink button closure.

Ava’s was made in a home dec paisley lined with cotton polka dots.

And I couldn’t leave Gigi out! So she got her own mini version which she is thrilled with in a blue damask print.

There are step by step instructions each with a picture, measurements for each size, suggestions and options- all sent to you in a quick and easy pdf file.

The inside is fully lined with pockets on each side.

You can store books, crayons, lunches, etc.. in the different sized pockets.

Oh, and want this one? It’s up for grabs.

It’s the sweetest shade of pink with a linen like texture.

It’s lined with an Amy Butler fabric and my new label from Little Birdie Studio is sewn in!

The winner will be announced Friday, February 26th. To enter:

1. Leave a comment. Tell me whather you’re entering for the bag or the pattern or both!

2. For a second chance to win, create a link to this post on your blog, facebook, twitter,etc.. Make sure to tell me in your comment if you do this, too.

The pattern will be up for sale on Friday. And I already have some posts for unique customizations planned!

THANK YOU for all your comments on the pleated top and paperbag waist skirt that I designed. I really value each one so keep them coming!

My New Obsession

September 28, 2009 8:51 am

Lovely Ashley, over at Lil Blue Blue , we all know, is so talented. She has the Sienna Dress Pattern. I decided I HAD to try it.(Mind you I’ve only ever bought one kid’s pattern) I am completely and absolutely obsessed! You take old shirts and make them into a dress. She has SO many wonderful ideas, options for customization, and tips on working with jersey. I made 4 in one day!! Here they are!

The first is made form my husband’s company’s logo. I took the orange fabric on the bottom and painted stripes on it.

It’s a totally shameless plug.

This on is for Ava because she loves crazy prints and tiedye. So this one is perfect for her.

Here’s is Giselle’s made form one of my old shirts from high school.

This one is Isabel’s ad I painted stars on the bottom of the fabric.

I love the 80′s look of this one.

Honestly, this pattern is so wonderful. I HIGHLY recommend it. Another idea that I had is using it to make just t-shirts. I can make most of my girl’s clothes, but I normally have to buy t-shirts. Now I can just use old one’s I have, shorten the pattern and make some really cool T’s. The instructions are so easy and it is so quick to make. And my favorite thing is that you are recycling clothes, especially one’s you already have. Who doesn’t have old t’s?? And what I love about it is each one is completely different. It feels like you’re doing a different project each time.

Anyways, check it out. I can’t wait to make more!!
