$1 High Fashion Bangle Bracelet

December 12, 2009 4:57 pm

I love big bracelets. I had seen some amazing fabrics at Harts Fabrics and thought this would be a perfect opportunity to use some of them to make a fabulous, high fashion, over-sized bangle.

First, grab 5 strips of chiffon. Cut them 1.5in by 3 inch. I used these three cream then two in a taupe color.Squeeze them in the middle….
.. then stitch them. Here’s what you’ll have.

I got this bangle in the dollar bin at Target.

Now’s your chance to use some beautiful statement fabrics. I used this gold and white Chanel one.
Here are a couple more that I absolutely love.
this Vera Wang Silkor this other Chanel.
Cut the fabric the length of your bangle and wide enough to cover it all the way around. Hot glue it on one side. Make sure to pull tightly so it doesn’t pucker at all.
Then do the other side. I think its LOVELY just like this. Think how many you could make with beautiful fabrics!

For an extra step, I covered the inside with this gold hem tape to cover the fabric that was folded over.

Now get your chiffon pieces and layer them on and stick with hot glue.

Here’s how the top will look when you’ve finished. You can always trim the flower if you need to make it smaller.
I added this blue bead to the center. But vintage pieces would look amazing or pearls!

I love how big and bold it is.

It also looks so beautiful without the flower! I would love this with some plain gold bangles with it.

Now go make some one of a kind, couture statement bracelets!!(That cost a buck!) How great are these for gifts!! I’m going to be making LOTS of these for Christmas!

Here is an order that I did the other day that is based off of of THIS tutorial.

I love love love these colors together!

It’s so soft and feminine.A closeup of the flower.

A bunchy, gathered riboned neckline.

I have some really cool new couture t shirts that I’ve made for my sisters for Christmas. They are something totally different than I’ve ever done and I’m going to put some in my shop when business slows down. I can’t wait to show them to you!

Large Layered Flower Pin How To

November 5, 2009 3:32 pm

I saw this flower pin from Anthropologie and absolutely loved it.
So I tried to make one and was so happy with the way it came out. I thought I’d share the tutorial with you!

I wanted mine to be off white, but with a little color variation.I took 5 strips of fabric, each one slightly smaller than the last. I also had a couple round pieces of tulle.

Ruffle each piece of fabric on one side.

Here’s what you’ll have.

Now for the base of the pin. Get a piece of fabric and fold it over so you have two layers.

Cut them in a circle and sew or (using my best friend) hot glue together.

Get your widest strip of fabric and form it in a circle so that the ends meet.

Glue the ends together.

Glue it to your base piece.

Get your next piece of fabric and do the same thing.

After applying each piece I trim the edges in a wavy way to mimic flower petals. You can trim it however way you like.

Keep adding the layers, throw in some tulle as needed. Make sure you do the widest piece first and end with the narrowest piece. At the end, glue a pin to the back.
**My tip- glue the pin at the top end of the back so that way the heavy flower won’t topple over when you wear it. Or you can add a pin at the top and bottom for extra security.**

You can add whatever you want to the center. Here’s the pearls I added.

Or you can add a vintage broach…

…or perhaps a rhinestone pin.

I love the depth of the flower.

Here it is on my favorite jacket from Anthropologie.

I also made some in some other colors.

And if you don’t want to make your own, hop on over to my etsy store to get one there!

Shoulder Love

October 15, 2009 5:23 am

This is another article I saw in Lucky Magazine this month. It is all on shoulder embellishments. I love something simple with a bold statement, so I adore this look.

I also saw this dress that really inspired by the simplicity, but high impact of the shoulders.

So I made these!

I did them in torn silk so they have raw edges. I also put them on pins so you could move them around from shirt to shirt.

Or just use them as a pin.

I really like how you can put this on a black shirt and it makes for a really dressy look. I can’t wait to wear these!!AND- I made some for sale in my etsy store!

Big Bows

October 8, 2009 12:35 pm

This is something else I saw in Lucky Magazine. I thing these big bows are so classy, but add a little bit of juvenille charm to it.

I had to make some immediately. I made this one out of a striped black silk. I double lined the first layer and did the second one out of raw edge silk. This one is for sale in my Etsy shop!

This one I did in a sheer chiffon.

I draped this one over the shoulder.

I love how it wraps around the shoulder. I also did these bows on pins so you could move them around in different positions and on different shirts.

And don’t forget the Valentina girls dress pattern is on SALE today. Click HERE to snatch it up!
