The origin of my love for sloves
December 19, 2009 9:03 amMy husband, Zach, and I have known each other since we were 6. We were best friends in highschool and he had this sweatshirt that was his favorite that I always loved.
Here it is today, 10 years later.I used to wear this sweatshirt a lot when we were friends. It was just cozy and comforting to me. He wore it all the time and soon enough it got little holes in the hem of the sleeves. So I used to stick my thumbs in the holes. It made it extra comforting to me. Ever since high school this sweatshirt has been like a security blanket for me. It reminds me of my sweet husband and the friendship that our relationship is based on.
So that’s why I like these so much. They just make me feel comfortable. Thanks for listening to that!
Anyhow, I wanted to make a pair for my sister that looked Free People-ish. So I found this wool sweater with these great button cuffs at the end. I cut them at a slightly flared angle.Mark then cut a little hole for your thumb.

Sleeve- Gloves. Sloves??
December 16, 2009 2:06 pm
Here’s a simple project made of old sweaters.
Take two old sleeves and cut them off the sweater.Mark where you want your thumbs to stick out and cut little holes there.
To decorate them, the possibilities are endless. I took a long ruffle then cut them into little pieces and made little rosettes. You can glue or stitch them on to the sleeve/glove.
Then I put different buttons on.
Now I’m happy and warm!

Sweater Vest Refashion Tutorial
November 23, 2009 9:48 amI love the sweater vest look.

We’re going to make this one! (Isn’t it cuter, if I do say so myself?)

I got this sweater at my thrift store for $1.50.
We need to cut the sleeves off. I cut them right inbetween the seam where they are attached. That way it won’t unravel.
Cut both of them off. I didn’t need to finish the edges on mine, but if you do there are a couple ways you can do it. ONE: Fold the seam under and stitch it with your machine. TWO: Find some cool bias tape and attach that. You can even hand stitch it with embroidery thread for a very Free People look!Tags: refashion, sweater, vest, wool

Sweater Scarf Refashion Tutorial
November 16, 2009 8:35 pmI really wanted one with pockets on the ends.
Here’s a very simple tutorial for this chic and unique sweater scarf.
I sewed them all together and made sure that my pieces with pockets were on the ends. I could tell this sweater was not going to unravel. But if yours might, you can fold it under and stitch it, add some bias tape or some extra trim from the sweater.I like how different it looks and I like that it still has the buttons and button holes because you can button it different ways for a cool look.
